MBEKA – The Sibusiso ‘Spoko’ Dlamini Testimonial yesterday took a giant step towards becoming a fully-fledged foundation when they started a care point for Mbeka Community in Mankayane.

The project will cost in excess of E50 000 and it leads up to the Testimonial match between Swazi Legends and their counterparts from South Africa on the June 30th.  The team that took part in the project included veteran local players who will be part of the legends team for the game.

They included Sifiso ‘Barnes’ Mkhulisi, Bongani ‘Ndezi’ Masangane, Njabuliso Simelane, Mfuci Dlamini, Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko, and others.
The care-point will serve a total of 38 children between the ages of 3-5 years.
Mbeka community’s Bucopho Zakhele Maseko said the work done by the former players will make a significant change in the community. He said the Mbeka Community Care-point was one of two in the area that needed to be revamped.

“As you have seen the previous structure was not conducive to accommodate children. We did not even have space to store food donated to us by people who wanted to assist the children. The new structure will also serve as a pre-school for the community,” he said.
Maseko added that area had 10 care points, eight of which had already been sponsored, including the one at Mbeka. “We have been asking for help since 2010 to try and build a proper structure to no avail until the Spoko Testimonial Committee came to our rescue. We have are very grateful for what the former players have done, and hope they would continue to assist in other areas,” he said.

The only care-point that remains in need of assistance under Ngwempisi Inkhundla, according to Maseko, is the one at Mandulweni. He hoped they would soon find help to rebuild that one as well.

Project Manager for the Spoko Testimonial match Colani Mhlongo said they would continue with such work post the day of the match on June 30. He said their next stop will be Nhlangano where they will identify areas in need to assist children have a better life.
“Our project is more than just football. We realise that the future of this country lies with children, and hope to do more to make an impact in the communities,” he said.
