MBABANE – Veteran cyclist Thulani Gule believes his best is yet to come, especially in mountain biking.

The 38-year-old said he would try to compete in all the upcoming races after finishing fourth in the Nedbank Imvelo MTB on Saturday at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Gule is from a four-year break after sustaining an injury in 2014.
He had already competed in races including the Enjabulweni MTB, where he finished third and the Logico race where he came second. Gule, who now stands second in the Mountain Bike series, is hoping to continue with his good run in the next mountain bike race being the Ngwenya Glass MTB Challenge billed for July 7.

“I feel strong after staying out of action for a long period. I’m working hard to improve my performance and so far I’m happy with my performance and there is a room for improvement. I hope I will do better in the next race, being the Ngwenya Challenge,” he said. The next race on the Cycling Association of Swaziland (CAS) Calendar is the Kukhanya Shiselweni Road Classic scheduled for June 30 in Lavumisa. This is a road race while the next mountain bike race will be the Ngwenya Challenge. Gule stands the chance of making it back to the national team if he continues with his good performance. He will have to compete in minimum three races of the mountain bike.

Gule said he was not only riding a bicycle for competitions but for also keeping himself healthy and physically strong. “Riding a bicycle is not only for competitions but it is a good life style. It is one that keeps the body healthy and strong and I encourage others to join in and start riding as there are benefits are there,” added.
