MTN QHUBEKA RULES MTN KHEMANI ROAD 100KM RACE

MANKAYANE – MTN Qhubeka cyclist Metkel Eyob Teweldeberhan won the MTN Khemani Cycle Road Race 100km on 2:32:04.55 hours.


The 23-year-old beat defending champion Tesfome Issak Okubamariama who finished second on 2:32:56:02 hours.
Okubamariama had clocked 2:36:31hours when he won the race last year and was able to better his last year’s record by four minutes.


 The top 10 of the 100km was dominated by professional cyclists from clubs including MTN Qhubeka, Team Abantu, Bonitas and Team Europcar.
The race started at Mabovini to Mhlabubovu where about 50km was covered and it also went to Sicunusa Border Post back to Mabovini to compete the 100km.
The champion, Teweldeberhan who comes from Eritrea said it was a tough race.


“From the start to finish it was not easy. The route was so challenging and I had to save stamina for a finish up. Last year I finished third and this time I was all out to win it,” he said.
