LOBAMBA – Bhunya were on Saturday crowned champions of the inaugural Handball Association of Swaziland (HAS) President Cup at OlympAfrica Centre in Lobamba.

They shrugged off challenges from the Royal Swaziland Police, OlympAfrica and SOS to emerge as winners in the games played in round robin format, after winning all their matches.

RSP men team finished second with their women beating Bhunya 23-6 in a one sided game.
HAS President Sihle Mavuso said he was impressed with the turnout and enthusiasm showed by teams, considering that Handball was a relatively new sport.

“We encourage teams to host their own events to keep players active as we are working towards acquiring a league sponsorship soon. We are looking at participating in the Handball African Championships to be hosted by Mozambique next March and also at the International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy,” Mavuso said.
