PASTOR MADE ME A SEX SLAVE - PUPIL
MANZINI – A girl (17) was allegedly raped by a pastor who had offered her a ride after he had found her at a bus station at Luve.
The pastor, Phatsakahle Mndzebele (46), was arrested by the police a year after he allegedly committed the said offence.
The complainant informed the court that she was waiting for transport to take her home when the pastor stopped his vehicle, an Isuzu written, ‘Project Canaan’. The name of his church was, however, not mentioned in court.
“While driving home, the pastor asked me if I attended school and I told him that I had dropped out because my parents did not have money to pay for my school fees.
“He then visited my parents and offered to pay my school fees and my parents agreed. However, this was on condition that I would stay at his home at Ngogola and look after his younger daughter after school,” the complainant alleged.
She further revealed that her parents ordered her brother to accompany her to the pastor’s home where she stayed while attending high school.
The complainant added that she was introduced to the pastor’s wife who works in Matsapha but did not stay at the homestead.
“While I was sleeping with his daughter one night, the pastor came into the room and said he wanted to make sure his child was fine since it was cold.
“He always did that until one day when he started touching me all over the body and ordered me not to scream. This went on until he started having sexual intercourse with me without my consent when his child was asleep in another bedroom,” the complainant alleged.
She also alleged that the pastor ordered the child, aged eight, to remove her belongings from the bedroom she was using and relocate to another one.
The complainant alleged that she was sexually abused by the pastor for a period of one year.
“I was scared to report him to anyone until one day when I contemplated suicide. I eventually informed two of my friends at school who advised me to report the matter to the school head teacher.
“Upon my return from school, I found the pastor with his wife at home and they both called me to the bedroom. When I got there I found them reading my dairy which also had a suicide note,” the complainant alleged.
She said when they enquired if the contents in the diary were true, she informed them that they were and the pastor’s wife requested her not to say anything to anyone about the rape incidents.
“I told them that I had already informed the school head teacher and two days later the police were called and I was taken to the hospital where tests were conducted. I was also given some medication and returned home to my parents,” the complainant alleged.
She also revealed, in court, that she wanted to kill herself because of the alleged rape incidents, hence the suicide note she had put in her diary. While relating the story, the complainant broke down and cried hysterically.
She was requested to calm down and take a seat by the public prosecutor, Anson Mkhaliphi.
The case was postponed to October 8, 2014 for continuation.
