SITEKI – Over 1 000 political pamphlets were found scattered around this town and surrounding areas this past weekend.

The pamphlets had information about the coming Global Week of Action Against Swaziland, an annual week-long demonstrations facilitated by the Swaziland Democracy Campaign (SDC).
Most of the pamphlets were found along the town’s main streets and along the Mpaka-Simunye public road.

Soon after discovering the pamphlets, some people called the police who responded promptly and visited all the areas in which the pamphlets were found.
The police then collected all the pamphlets.

It could not be established who distributed the pamphlets, but information sourced from the pamphlets revealed that the distribution  is part of this year’s Global Week programme.
“To popularise and raise awareness around the issues of the Global Week of Action Against Swaziland,” reads the  programme on one of the pamphlets explaining the reason for distributing the pamphlets.

The Times established that no one had been taken in for questioning by the police regarding the distribution of the pamphlets, but a source revealed that the police had opened an investigation into the matter.  Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Inspector Khulani Mamba  confirmed, and said the police were investigating the matter.
