Senator Gelane fired Indvuna and secretary of Kontshingila

MBABANE – The Indvuna and Secretary under Gelane Zwane’s chieftaincy in Kontshingila were last December fired.

Then Indvuna, Bheki Maphalala together with secretary Joel Gumbi were on December 6 fired from their position, which sent shocking waves amongst residents.

Although the secretary has since been replaced, no one has been appointed as Indvuna. Former police officer Artwell Mfaniselwa Mthethwa is currently serving as secretary on Gelane’s request.

When the Swazi News tried to seek comment about the shocking news regarding the community’s acting chief, neither party was willing to speak about the matter. When we visited Gumbi at his homestead, he said: “I am no longer authorised to speak on behalf of the community and furthermore I am not in a position to speak about my sacking until the time is right”.

Mthethwa, on the other hand, said; “I was requested by the acting chief to assume duties of being secretary of the community which was on December 6. Respecting her position within the community I agreed. I have no authority to speak about any other issues. Mine is to just take down notes.

I can’t even comment about my appointment and the gentleman I took over from. It gets scary when you ask me to comment on her real surname”. Residents who spoke to the Swazi News were also amazed by the sudden changes especially that of Indvuna Maphalala’s sacking as they recommended the work he did of bringing stability within the community.
