MBABANE – “I am the owner of the car”.

A businessman, Noah Nyawo, has come out to clear the speculations about the circulating videos of flamboyant cars on social media, following that some people claimed that His Majesty King III allegedly bought the cars as gifts for Emazinyane, amid the drugs shortage in health facilities. Nyawo said the blue Lamborghini belonged to him, not Emazinyane as some had speculated.  The car was found parked inside a garage at his home. This comes after government clarified that the cars were sponsored by friends of Prince Majaha, the Gcaba brothers, who are transport moguls from KwaZulu-Natal.

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo said the circulating social media posts suggesting that His Majesty allegedly bought the cars was misinformation and misrepresentation of facts. “The distortion of the facts around the birthday celebration of Prince Majaha, is yet another desperate attempt at sowing discord within the nation and should be outrightly rejected as crude propaganda perpetuated by the hostile political elements, which have an agenda against the country and royalty in particular,” Nxumalo said.

The Gcaba brothers, according to Buzz South Africa, are members of a prominent Gcaba family from Umlazi, South Africa. The family owns multiple businesses, with the taxi business being their major business venture. Following people’s reactions, some disputing government’s clarification on the matter, this publication went on to seek the real owners of the car. Nyawo was identified as one of the owners of the cars, the Lamborghini Huracan, which was found parked at his homestead.

According to Kelly blue book website, the Lamborghini huracan 2017 model cost around US$200 000 which is equivalent to E3 816 000. He stated that the social media posts were not true and were merely distortions of facts. According to Nyawo, the car belongs to the Nyawo family and is not new, as some would suggest. He admitted that the car was a 2017 model and any information which suggests that His Majesty bought the car was false. “This is a 2017 model and you cannot find a 2023 Lamborghini model anywhere.  Most of the time you will find the cars without number plates and some would suggest that they are new, which is not true,” Nyawo said.

Facts

Adding, he further clarified ownership of the other luxury cars, saying that the Gcaba brothers wanted to meet the individual who circulated the wrong information on social media. Nyawo explained that the Gcaba brothers did not want their names to be associated with wrong information, lacking facts. “These people do not like seeing unverified information being spread. This person, wherever he is, must know that they are looking for him, to answer for the false information,” he said. He went on to state that some people spread unverified information to drive a certain narrative, which is wrong and must never be allowed.
According to Nyawo, the people writing on social media must not abuse their independence. He mentioned that people could be independent when expressing their views, but when talking about other people, there must be evidence. The businessman said emaSwati must know that they were responsible for what they wrote.
Meanwhile, Nxumalo, in his statement, said the intention was obviously to create the perception that royalty was being extravagant in the midst of so many national challenges, hence, the argument of lack of drugs in hospitals as if drugs in hospitals were bought by royalty.
He stated that drugs were bought by government, not the royalty and they had seized the opportunity of addressing the issue, with a team that had been commissioned to invigorate and rectify the issue. “Also, drugs shortages in hospitals are a by-product of corruption and theft, not Ferraris which were never bought by the King for Emazinyane in the first place,” he said.
