MBABANE - A bouncer from Yemfo Bar yesterday appeared at the Mbabane Magistrates Court charged with the murder of a patron.

Bandile Xaba (23) of Mahwalala is accused of killing Mancedi Hlanze, whom he allegedly stabbed with a sharp object in the back, causing a fatal wound from which he (Hlanze) died.
Information gathered was to the effect that the deceased entered the bar and grabbed alcoholic beverages from one of the patrons, causing a commotion. It is said that Xaba intervened as the deceased engaged in a heated argument with patrons. Hlanze is said to have been joined by his friends in the commotion. As Hlanze was pulled out of the bar, it is alleged that Xaba hit him with a half slasher in the back.

Running

It is alleged that the deceased was last seen running towards Pasadas, before he was reported dead the following morning. It has been gathered that Xaba was taken by the police the following morning and later charged with murder. He was produced at the Mbabane Magistrate Court, where he recorded a confession last Friday. When he appeared for a remand hearing yesterday, Xaba informed the court that he had an attorney to represent him in the matter. The Crown applied that he be remanded in custody until June 16, 2023, pending committal to the High Court. The Crown also applied that blood specimen be extracted from Xaba for further investigations. The Crown applied for the detention of the exhibit that was allegedly used in the commission of the offence. Xaba’s relatives were present to give him moral support. One of the relatives broke into tears as she saw Xaba leaving with the police officer who had brought him to court.
