MBABANE – Mbuso Ncaza Nkosi’s mother is expected to come to Eswatini to testify in Sipho Shongwe’s murder trial.

This is the witness that this publication exclusively reported in February 2022 that yet another South African national would be paraded by the Crown to prove its case against Shongwe.
The date of the arrival of Nkosi’s mother has not been disclosed. In her evidence, she is expected to corroborate the evidence of her son pertaining to a bus that was purportedly gifted to him by Shongwe, allegedly as a token of appreciation for executing the killing of Victor Gamedze.

In his evidence, ‘Ncaza’ told the court that when the vehicle was delivered, they found his mother, who informed him about its delivery. Yesterday, when the lead  investigator, Senior Superintendent Sikhumbuzo Fakudze was led by Advocate Michael Hellens, he said Nkosi’s mother would testify in the matter, but did not disclose the date when she is expected to give her evidence. Fakudze told the court that the statement of Nkosi’s mother would be provided through Interpol. On February 17, 2022, Shongwe’s representative, Advocate Laurence Hodes, enquired from Nkosi about the whereabouts of the bus which was allegedly delivered to his (Nkosi) parental home in South Africa by one Aziz, who had been purportedly sent by Shongwe.

“I don’t know where it is, I am in jail,” responded Nkosi. The advocate retorted: “I don’t understand. It’s either there is a bus or there is none. Clarify.” Nkosi said he received a call from Aziz when he was in prison and he told him that he had brought a 22-seater bus at Shongwe’s instruction. Nkosi said he requested Aziz and his uncle to depose to an affidavit because there were no documents about the bus. He told the court that his uncle and Aziz made the affidavit at a police station. The witness submitted that his uncle took the bus to his (uncle) brother’s workshop outside Soweto. He further submitted that he had pictures of the bus.

Baby

Nkosi said when Aziz brought the bus to his home, he stated that it would benefit his then recently born baby to live comfortably. According to Nkosi, documents with a Matsapha United FC emblem, as well as EswatiniBank Cup and Premier League of Eswatini on them were found on the bus. Nkosi said he asked his mother to make copies of those documents, which he presented in court as part of his evidence. Advocate Hodes said Shongwe did not know how Nkosi got hold of those papers. Nkosi said he directed police officers to where the bus was.
