PM TRAVELS WITH WIFE

SIKHUPHE – Prime Minister (PM) Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini has jetted out of the country on his first international assignment.


The premier, who was accompanied by his wife Portia, left the country yesterday at around 2pm through King Mswati III International Airport.


The PM is going to represent His Majesty King Mswati III, who is currently in seclusion, during the 11th Extraordinary Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and governments of the African Union (AU) to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday and Monday.

During a press briefing which was held at the boardroom of the department of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), the PM said during the meeting, they would consider proposals on the reform of the structure and portfolio of the senior leadership of the AU Commission.


It was gathered that the meeting would also focus on selection of the senior leadership of the commission, administrative and financial reforms together with the mandate of the AU Development Agency (AUDA).


On another note, Dlamini said the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), Themba Masuku, would be the acting PM during his absence. The DPM and Minister of Agriculture Jabulani Mabuza were among those who came to bid farewell to the PM at the airport.

According to the AU website, the assembly kick-started with an Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) on Wednesday at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


The gist of the preparatory meeting was highlighting the need for reform of the AU in order for the continental organisation to achieve peace, development and the Africa wanted by AU member states.
