MBABANE – Russells Stores trading under the JD Group, opened successfully yesterday evening at an event that commenced at 5pm at the Carters Mall, Industrial Sites, Mbabane.

The franchise was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Dlamini, who was in the company of the minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Christopher Gamedze.
The event was well attended, and by 4:30pm, members of the public were eager to set foot into the premises and make selections and purchases.

After the ribbon was cut, the deputy prime minister and his entourage were ushered in to view the items on display. Over 120 people cramped into the space admiring household furniture.
After the opening prayer, Minister Gamedze welcomed the DPM, mentioning that it was an honour to have him present at the opening, seeing as he is a very busy man.

The DPM said, “It is an honour and privilege for me to be here with you this afternoon, to witness the opening of Russells Furniture Store, which is part of the JD Group, Traditional Retail Division.

On behalf of His Majesty’s government, I would like to thank JD Group for finding it fit to open a branch in Eswatini.
Eswatini being a free market economy encourages competition among retailers, which is an advantage for customers as it gives them a variety of choice when deciding where to buy their commodities.” He further stated that the opening of this store had created job opportunities for locals, hence partly reducing the high rate of unemployment in the country.

He also stated that it ensured that His Majesty’s Vision 2022, of improving the livelihood of locals would be  realised.
He further encouraged the store’s sales team to always ensure their customers were aware of their terms of conditions when purchasing items, in order not to find themselves in trouble.
