MBABANE – Top lawyer Sidumo Valentine Mdladla has been appointed acting Judge of the High Court of Swaziland.

The unveiling of Mdladla as an acting judge yesterday ended the speculation that had been going on for the past three days.
This was after our sister publication, the Swazi News, published a story that there was a top lawyer who had been appointed an acting judge but no name was mentioned.

Mdladla, who has been a lawyer for about 20 years, was sworn in by acting Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala yesterday.
The swearing-in ceremony, which was held at the High Court Conference Room, was attended by all judges of the High Court and Industrial

Court.

Before the swearing-in ceremony, the acting chief justice disclosed that Mdladla would hold the position for a period of 30 days.
He said the appointment of the senior lawyer by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) came after his (acting chief justice) statement that there was a backlog of cases.

Mdladla yesterday took an oath of allegiance, where he swore that he would be faithful and bear allegiance to King Mswati III, his heirs and successors, according to law.

I am very pleased to note the increasing number of home grown lawyers being sworn in as Judges.
Congratulations to Sidumo Mdladla!
