CORRUPTION KILLING THE PUBLIC SECTOR

Sir,

Thank you for giving me the chance to share my ideas with my fellow citizens. I would like to state from the onset that corrupt public officials are usually at the heart of most complaints about poor service delivery.

There are some public servants who are not qualified for the positions that they hold but have gained valuable experience during their time in government.

Despite their lack of education, they are doing their best to fulfill their duties. However, we must never underestimate the seriousness of having unqualified people because in the end it leads to corruption and nepotism both of which are a big challenge in the public sector.
Crime and corruption are getting out of hand in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

That is why I would like to implore the media to continue with the hardwork of exposing everything about corruption. We need leaders who are able to admit when they have done wrong.

Leaders need to stop hiring their friends and relatives in the public sector because in the end it affects service delivery. Jobs should be given to qualified people who can perform their duties efficiently and with transparency. We need leaders who have humility. The effects of corruption in the public sector are that corrupt officials eat the fruits of other people’s labour.

They get fat while others suffer.
There should be no compromise in ensuring that officials possess skills and qualifications needed for their positions.
We cannot sit back and act as if we do not see that there is a lot of wrong in the public sector.

Let us all do all in our power to root out corruption in the public sector so that all citizens would be happy with service delivery. In that way the country will develop and improve its economy.
