MBABANE – The Referees and Coaches’ refresher course will this weekend be conducted in the regions.

The course starts on Friday. In the Lubombo region it will be held at KaLanga and Siphofaneni, while Gesawu Training Centre and Mbabane will host the course in the Hhohho Region. In the Shiswelweni Region it will be held at Hluthi Police Station and Nhlangano High School, respectively.

FIFA Development Officer Zwelonkhe ‘Sport’ Dlamini said the refresher course was meant for all national football associations and structures in refereeing and coaching. "The course usually lasts for six days and on the last day the participants write an exam," he said.

Dlamini explained that the referees’ basic course would run concurrently with the coaching and administration course.

He said the refresher course was to harmonise their teaching methods both in the refereeing and coaching professions.

Dlamini then urged all interested to register with their respective football associations countrywide.

He said this was part of the Long Term Development Programme (LTDP), which started in 2005.

"There will also be a presentation of topics by the course director. Some of the activities to take place during the course include the analysis of match situations, use of whistle, dealing with injured players and fouls inside and outside the penalty area.
