MBABANE – Beauty Mngometulu, the mother to Goodman who allegedly murdered his wife, has requested the High Court to release her son.

Goodman is alleged to have killed his wife, Ntombizile Vilakati, in cold blood in 2006 at UNISWA Luyengo campus.
Beauty said her family did not have anybody to support them since the arrest of her son. She was giving testimony in her son’s case yesterday. She said the accused was the family’s sole breadwinner and since his arrest, they were living on donations.

“The home is crumbling because of his absence. He is the sole breadwinner at home and without him, we are nothing. May I plead with the court to be considerate on my son because the family is falling apart,” she said. Beauty said her son was very supportive of the family since he was the only one who got a decent job from her children.

She further alleged that he supported the whole family and paid school fees for his sibling and his two nephews.
She alleged that for the past three years, they have been living on donations and said the children’s school fees are paid for by government under the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) Fund. She was being cross examined by the accused’s attorney, Sabelo Bhembe.

She alleged that her husband was no longer working as he got injured while working as a security guard for the Lutheran Church in Mbabane.
Asked whether the accused had ever shown any signs of violence at home, Mngometulu described her son as a very quiet person. She said she was very surprised when she received the news that he had allegedly murdered his wife.
