MBABANE – Over E1.5 million was obtained from yesterday’s auction held at the American Embassy.
The auction was conducted by auctioneer Walter Bennett.

Close to 500 people had come to bid for the items that went under the hammer. Among the things sold were motor vehicles, office and household furniture, computers and office equipment.
Just before the auction began, Bennett took some time explaining how to bid.
He told the bidders that he only wanted cash.

Some of the interested buyers asked to be allowed to pay by bank guaranteed cheques, but he insisted on cash.
Bennett began the auction by selling cars which most people had come for. Among the cars that were sold was a Nissan Patrol, which was wrecked in an accident.

Despite its condition, the vehicle was sold for E55 000 and was bought by a woman identified as Lizzy Nkosi. She said she was going to fix the vehicle and use it herself.

Meanwhile, most of the people who bought the vehicles said they were not going to sell them.
Amongst them were businessmen, one of whom spent over E150 000 on two cars.
The auction lasted for close to four hours.
