Times Of Swaziland: EXPLOSIVES MAN DISOWNS NOISY SUPPORTERS EXPLOSIVES MAN DISOWNS NOISY SUPPORTERS ================================================================================ BY SIBUSISO ZWANE on 22/05/2019 08:44:00 MANZINI – Explosives man, Musa Ngubeni burst into tears as he disowned some of his supporters who frustrated and angered him during his appearance in court yesterday. The former student leader and member of the proscribed political entity, the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO), appeared before Pigg’s Peak Principal Magistrate Joe Gumede at the Manzini Magistrates Court yesterday morning. However, his case delayed to start. In fact, he was almost sent back to prison without appearing. This was after his supporters, who are members of political parties, civil society groups and human rights activists, sang political songs inside Court One where his matter was heard. The case was supposed to start at 10am but the principal magistrate eventually stepped inside the court- room at 10:39am. While Ngubeni’s supporters were singing, a court orderly asked them to be quiet as the principal magistrate was about to enter the court. He told them that he would not bring the principal magistrate to the court if they were still making noise. However, the court orderly’s plea seemed to fall on deaf ears as the supporters continued to sing political songs and slogans while clapping their hands. Reason Thereafter, Ngubeni’s lawyer, Thulani Sibandze from Rodrigues and Associates, intervened by trying to reason which his client’s supporters that if they continued singing, the matter could end up not being heard. “This will mean Ngubeni will go back to prison without getting justice, which you all want,” the lawyer said. After a while, Wandile Dludlu, from the Swaziland United Democratic Front (SUDF) stood up and asked his comrades who were still singing at the public gallery, to hold back in order for court proceedings to resume. Dludlu’s efforts were successful as there was silence in the court. However, while they waited for the court to resume, Ngubeni’s lawyer came back and told the supporters that even his client was not happy with their conduct. This seems to have not gone down well with Ngubeni’s supporters as they asked the lawyer why he went to the accused person because they were quiet by then. They asked him to talk to the principal magistrate that they were ready for the court to resume.
