Times Of Swaziland: MTN’S COMPETITOR READY MTN’S COMPETITOR READY ================================================================================ BY MDUDUZI MAGAGULA on 01/02/2015 06:25:00 MBABANE – Swavitel says preparations to launch a second mobile telephone network company in Swaziland are at an advanced stage. The company is awaiting a decision of the Regulator of the Swaziland Communications Commission (SCCOM) on its application to register. Mthunzi Morris Shabangu, one of the directors, hopes that a decision from the regulator would come immediately after opening of Parliament. He said this information was relayed to his company by Stan Motsa, former regulator before he left office. Swavitel has a multinational directorship. It was registered with the office of the Registrar of Companies, which is under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade on November 11, 2013. It has one listed director in Shabangu, a Swazi man, aged 35. Some of the directors are based in Swaziland others in Maputo Mozambique and Vietnam. Vietnam is a country in South East Asia, bordered on the north by China and to the west by Laos and Cambodia. Speaking exclusively to the Times SUNDAY, Shabangu said the Swazi company had a connection with Vietnam-based mobile operator Viettel Telecomm. He said its directors were part of the successful Vietnam’s telecommunication Viettel Group brand, which has also established a partnership operation in Mozambique. Shabangu said the directors met last week to finalise details of the company’s launch.
