MANZINI - South African musician Master KG says there is a reason he is referred to as ‘Master KG’.

Master KG was in the country on Saturday and performed at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre,  courtesy of the Impisi Rally. Born Kgaogelo Moagi, known professionally as Master KG, he is a South African musician and record producer. Born and raised in Tzaneen, his debut studio album Skeleton Move achieved acclaim, including an AFRIMA Award for Best Artist/Group in the African Electro category. He is also known as the pioneer of ‘Bolobedu’ dance.

After his hour-long performance, he had an interview with this publication. The musician has been dropping hit after hit since he established himself in the industry. When probed on how he has been able to be one of the dominant producers in the music industry, he shared that his stage name defines it all. “I have been doing this thing for a long time and they do not just call me ‘Master’ for nothing. This is because I have mastered what I do as a musician. I am counted among the best because now, I am just cruising with it, it is just in the blood. This may sound easy when I am speaking about it but it’s not. We have sacrificed a lot to get to this point and patience kept us going,” Master KG said.

After making this statement Master KG went on to share some words of wisdom to young producers, who wished to be like him. “All I can say is that believe in yourself, anything is possible. As ‘Wanitwa Mos’ we didn’t start where we are now. We started at the bottom, back in the villages in umkhukhu (shack) living with my grandmother. Life was not easy at all, at times I thought about giving up, but thank God I didn’t. I never thought that I would have so much impact in the industry; sometimes I even look at myself in the mirror and ask if this is really me. The industry is workable, if you believe and are patient with what you love, you will definitely make it to the top,” Master KG said.

As his highlight, he shared that he was always  grateful for being in the country. “I am grateful to come to Eswatini. The vibe is always amazing this side; shout out to the people of Eswatini for always showing love and support. This is a country that I wouldn’t hesitate to visit any day, the love is just too much I really enjoy myself here,” the musician said. ‘Wanitwa Mos’ will be releasing more new music this year. We have something good coming your way some time in June and this will include Nkosazana Daughter and more musicians from Wanitwa Mos. Make sure that you don’t miss out,” Master KG added.

The Impisi Rally was a charity event presented by Hyena biking group alongside  other South African bikers, such as Inkomazi riders, Mpumalanga riders, Industrial riders, Rebel troops, as well as Criminals to name a few. Bikers from Eswatini and SA came in numbers to enjoy fun games and activities, which were prepared as part of the rally. Well celebrated DJs and musicians also gave them a time of their life during the rally. The likes of Thandisile, Tilungu, The Bishops, Sgitha wema 2k, DJ Hlubi, DJ Lolo, Lady Zee, Umfana weBhejisa, The Shepard Brothers, Magidzi delivered vibrant performances, which had the show running until 4am. Master KG took the stage at 1am, he performed for an hour and exited the stage at 2am.
