CLEOPATRA’S SUCCESSFUL RECORDING

Mbabane - Eswatini’s very own queen of Country music, Cleopatra Methula succefully recorded her latest project on Saturday at the Theatre Club.

The title of her latest project is A Decade and a Rose. The recording took place just after 8pm.The first act of the night was Kids in Motion, the youngsters displayed great choreographed ballet dance moves, much to the crowd’s appreciation. The MC of the night was Comedian Mdura, who made sure he delivered by warming up the fans just before the lady of the hour made it to the well-decorated stage, which boasted of extra lighting to enhance the live recording. When Cleopatra finally got to the stage, her fans were anxiously waiting to see her perform.  She wore a yellow sequin dress, which had yellow feathers with a black tail and red tassels to add to the country look of her outfit. She welcomed her fans and shared with them that’s it’s been a dream to do a live recording which was finally happening.

Her second song titled, ‘It’s my money’ got fans dancing near the stage in appreciation of the great melodies she was delivering. Her live recording was in three folds, she was also supported by a live band. It’s worth noting that Stones, of Dusty and Stones was also part of the band playing the guitar. Her sister, Tebe Methula, was also part of the band as a vocalist. The star also shared with the fans that her producer was Dusty Simelane, who was also in attendance. Legendary Buddy Masango took to the stage while the star of the show had gone for her second wardrobe change.

A local upcoming Country musician, Alfred Gama, also wowed fans while the star had gone for her third and final wardrobe change. After the show Methula shared with this publication that the project will be ready by October this year. “I’m so excited and blessed . The recording has gone better than expected, and people came out to support and I would like to thank them for taking their time to come and support.  I love and appreciate all the people who came to to support me, let’s keep Country music going.” When probed when the final project was likely to be out she said between September and October, they were hoping to be done by then launch. She also thanked her designer Carole Lubelo, who made her look incredible with her three outfits. She then asked her fans to be on the lookout for final the project later in the year.  The Country musician last month topped Eswatini iTunes Charts with her latest single ‘Find a Way’.

Released

The new single was released in April and is already proving to be a global phenomenon with streams and sales recorded from as far as the United States of America (USA). ‘‘Find a Way’ is a traditional Country song that is set to engrave Cleopatra Methula’s name on the great list of this genre, especially given that she’s from Africa,” stated Bongani ‘DJ Tizalami’ Dube, radio guest compiler and chart show host.  This is the second time that Methula is topping the iTunes. She is also songwriter and guitarist. Christened ‘Queen of Country music in Africa’ by the CNN African Voices.

With her golden matured voice and her original song writing skills she has written songs in both siSwati and English, creating a new energetic scene in the country music world. She is the first female country musician to be nominated and invited to perform at the ‘Texas Sounds International Country Music  Awards’ held in Texas, October 2019, where she won ‘International Rising Star’ and ‘Best Duo of the year’ Awards. The International award winning musician raised the bar once more after receiving an ‘International Award’ from the South African Country Music Award Foundation (SACMAF) in November 2019. She is also the 2019 MTN SWAMA Best Country Award Winner, making her the first Musician in the Kingdom of Eswatini to ever receive this number of accolades.
