CLEOPATRA WINS AT TEXAS SOUNDS AWARDS

MBABANE - Eswatini is a home of true talent.  The world of country music also attested to it as Miss Roses whose real name is Cleopatra Methula, has bagged two awards at the 2019 Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards which were held in the United States of America, Texas.


The event brought participants from around the world and audience members from across the nation to Jefferson, Texas in the United States of America.
Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards are a production of East Texas Performing Arts, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit corporation.


In 2014 the concept of a worldwide country music competition was launched in the little tourist town of Jefferson, Texas.
The concept matured quickly into one of the most exciting country music events in the world.
That first year top performers came from eight nations to compete.


Over the years Texas Sounds has grown to attract the very best country musicians from more than 15 nations!
Worldwide, country music is a huge phenomenon and Texas is regarded as the center, the birthplace, of several country music genres (Western Swing, Boogie Woogie, Rockabilly, Red Dirt, and Outlaw Country).


Texas Sounds brings the tradition back home and allows traditional and innovative country artists a stage from which to shine.
Methula was not only nominated, but she was given the opportunity to also perform during these awards. It is worth noting that the country music singer was nominated for the ‘Best Entertainer Of The Year’, ‘Best Vocalist Of The Year’ and ‘Best Song Writer Of The Year’ awards.
 She won herself the title of being the ‘Best Duo ’and ‘Best Rising Star of the year’.


In an interview with the songbird, she expressed her excitement and gratitude for being recognised in one of the biggest platforms of country music.
 “Texas has been a great experience for me. We are so happy about the achievement because we have made Eswatini proud. We are honoured to get such recognition,” she said. It is worth noting that  the awards  attracted different kinds musicians around the globe as some were from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Spain and the Republic of South Africa to name a few.


 The ‘Imali’ hit maker also expressed her gratitude to the country for supporting their music, and giving them a platform to share their talent with the world.
 “All this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the nation, through donations, which helped us raise funds for all our travelling expenses,” she said.
Methula also shared her experience of performing for thousands of people from different countries which she said was amazing and she learnt a lot.
 She is not the first musician to hoist the country’s flag, Dusty and Stone also bagged the ‘Best International Country Music Duo of the year’ award in Texas a few years back.


Congratulated


The Eswatini, Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, congratulated the song bird on her achievement and shared that they were not surprised as they knew she was one of the best.
“We are not one bit surprised .We were confident in  her winning streak as she is surrounded by country music  pioneer and mentors who have her interest at heart.


“We are also very excited about her journey as she has made us so proud and we wish her more success,” he said.
Through social media, the public also congratulated Miss Roses a series of  the pictures were posted online as she was in Texas.
