MATSAPHA – Following a hugely successful choral competition, Therisian walked away with the Champ of Champs trophy and E10 000.
This was during the Eswatini Bank Schools Choral Competition finals held at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Sports Emporium in Kwaluseni last Sunday.

Therisian had a memorable feat during this year’s competition as they scooped six trophies and collected over E15 000 in prize monies. Besides scooping the biggest award of the night, the choir, which is a mix of St Theresa’s and Salesian High Schools, also won the Boys Choir category with 73 points, Mixed Choir with 80 points, Western with 80 points, African with 82 points and National Anthem with 80 points.

They came third on Sitibili Mixed Choir and settled for the second spot on Girls’ Choir.
Vulamasango came second while Fonteyn High School came third. These schools presented exciting finals as they did their best on stage and made work for the judging panel a bit difficult.

He said all the participants were winners and thanked EswatiniBank for nurturing young talent.
Sunday’s finals were the culmination of the 15th edition of the competition.

We have seen soloists, primary and high school finals during the week and today marks the end of yet another edition of the competition. The Bank continues to have confidence in the competition hence the consistent sponsorship and support.

We are pleased to have observed over the years that the competition is growing and attracting many people who come to attend for the pure enjoyment of the beautiful music rendered,” Eswatini Managing Director Zakhele Lukhele said.

He added that the schools that finished competing have risen through many stages to qualify to be part of the Champ of Champs, which is the epitome of the competition.

Mthokozisi Mndzebele walked away with the best conductor award and he attributed his accolade to hard work.
Fonteyn High School teacher Siphiwokuhle Nxumalo said they were excited and overwhelmed with the results. However, she stated that it was not an easy journey for them. They walked away with a total of six trophies.
