MBABANE - Embracing your natural hair can get you awarded. Make-up artist Busi Johnson has been awarded by the annual #AfriKinkyRepYourCountry competition for embracing and showing off her natural hair.

She was unveiled as position two on Sunday. She won with 1 013 votes which were casted by people from all over the world since last week Wednesday when the voting lines were open online.
Johnson was one of 13 women from the different African countries to join. She was competing against women from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia, Angoal, Uganda, Malawi, Chad, Zambia and Congo.

The finalists from the listed countries were selected after they submitted their pictures in natural hair to the #AfriKinkyRepYourCountry website.
The competition is an initiative by AfricansGoneNatural, where natural hair divas from Africa are brought together to share information and style on keeping natural hair.
In an interview with this publication, Johnson said her love for natural hair motivated her to join the competition.

“I am a lover for natural hair, so joining this competition seemed like the right and expressive thing to do,” said Johnson.
She said she was grateful for the support she received.

“I would not have done this had it not been for the thousand plus people who felt I was worthy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she said.
She forwarded her sincere gratitude to the people of Eswatini, United States of America, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Zimbabwe for voting for her.
Johnson encouraged Eswatini women to join the competition in future.
“Embracing your African nature and being awarded for that is pure bliss,” she said.
