She is young, sassy, open minded, beautiful and yes, she enjoys every moment of herself while being a responsible mother.
As we approach Mother’s Day, people like Noxolo Matse, who strive to make their children happy while making sure they embrace themselves and continue to slay, deserves a standing ovation for being a wonderful mother.

Motherhood is not a walk in the park but Noxolo, who proudly mothers Hiranya Mahlalela, freely shared her experiences with GCWALA and she elicited nothing but happiness fused with calmness in her responses.

When you discovered you were going to be a mother, what were your thoughts?
When I discovered I was pregnant, it was a shock, I remember calling my best friend asking her to come over and we just sat for hours stunned. My thoughts were how far along am I and how will I raise a baby when I am so young myself, and expenses taking care of the baby were overwhelming but lucky I had a very supporting man who assured me it will be fine, and he was right, we were and are still fine.

What motivated your daughter’s name?
Her name is Hiranya, it means the most precious in Indian, and I just loved the unique name and the meaning so it was perfect.

What has been your worst motherhood experience from birth to date? What has changed?
Giving birth was PAINFUL. LOL. Also, the thought of having to raise someone so fragile and small smothered and clustered me entirely but fortunately, I had ample support from my family.

Has your daughter reached a stage where she acknowledges you and embraces you as her mother?
My daughter has always embraced me as her mother and on lucky days she calls me her sister, and says I am not old but that’s so rare and that’s her way of making me buy junk food.

What is the sweetest thing that your daughter has said or done for you? How did that change your perception about motherhood?
I have a lot of sweet memories. Every Valentine’s and Mother’s Day and Christmas I get a personally made card. And when I do or buy something she loves, I get to be called the best mother in the world and that’s saying something.

What would you change about yourself that would make you to be a better mother?
Have more time to spend with her.

What advice would you love to give mothers out there?
I would advise them to love their children unconditionally and always be supportive and encouraging to their dreams. Not all children are book smart.

Mother’s Day Wish List...
I would like to spend a whole spa day with my best friend and get to unwind and talk. But more than anything I would love to spend time with my family over good food. And the obvious chocolates, perfume and a pair of heels maybe.
