SWAKI SCULPTURE WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED END OF AUGUST

MBABANE – The Swaki Sculpture competition winner will now be announced end of August 2015, instead of the scheduled end of June that has already elapsed.

According to the PRO of the SWAKI group of companies Carol DuPont, they have decided to engage some artists from overseas to help the SWAKI Board judge the entrants.
“Firstly, we would like to apologise to all the artists that entered as I am sure they had lost hope but we assure them that the competition is still our priority. We had hoped to announce the winners by the end of June but there have been a number of challenges in coming to a decision on the results, that is why we have roped in international judges to assist,” said DuPont.

She said she was glad to announce to the public that they had secured well known international artists and artisans who would be able to give their professional judgment on each sculpture.
“It has simply been a challenge to separate the 10 best submissions from the vast range of excellent ideas that have come in from the public. That is why we needed full professional input from established artists,” said DuPont.
SWAKI believes that the judging process will be finalised by the middle of August and the results published by the end of August 2015.

They further asked all those who made submissions to be patient as they will announce the winners as soon as they can.
The winning sculpture was initially to be used as the new emblem for the SWAKI company and placed in front of its head office, however, DuPont made it clear that as a company, they reserve the right on whether or not to proceed with a finished sculpture but guaranteed that the top 10 winners will be rewarded in any event with the prize money.

The overall winner will walk away with E75 000, positions two, three, four and five respectively will get E5 000 each, while positions six, seven, eight, nine and 10 will get E1 000 each.
