MANZINI – His Majesty King Mswati III has hailed Swazi Secrets for their achievement in obtaining an award in Brazil.

His Majesty expressed his contentment upon his return to the country from the summit.

Swazi Secrets, a women empowerment consortium company initiated by Her Majesty the Indlovukazi received the top prize on women empowerment at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Equator Prize for Sustainable Develop- ment event last Wednesday evening.

The company, which produces beauty products from marula, was one of 816 entries from 66 coun-tries judged in various categories that promote environmentally friendly income generation projects in communities around the world.

The award comes with a US$20 000 prize which is about E140 000.

Worth noting is that the project was nominated by a German client who distributes the product in Europe.

Speaking briefly to the press at Ludzidzini Royal Residence yesterday, His Majesty said Swazi Secrets had done the country proud by receiving such an award.

"The meeting on environmental issues went well in Brazil as all leaders from all the countries of the world met to discuss agreements that were made in that same country 20 years ago.

"On top of that it came as a surprise that one of our companies scooped a top honour in that same meeting," His Majesty said.

He said Swaziland was the talk of the day after receiving such an honour.

The King said the company was awarded such an honour because it was doing things that were blending well with the theme in Brazil.

He also disclosed that while in Brazil, they got a chance to meet with World Bank officials who promised to continue helping the country.

His Majesty also said what was discussed in Brazil was for the benefit developing countries, by ways of making sure that they avoid practices that could lead to failing those who are still developing.

The King said the meeting in Brazil would remain memorable for them as leaders.
