MP David Shongwe submits list of bomb suspects'
MBABANE – Mayiwane Member of Parliament David ‘Lion’ Shongwe has since submitted a list of people he suspects are behind the petrol-bombing of his house.
Shongwe submitted the list to the Buhleni police last week.
In an interview on Thursday, the MP confirmed to this newspaper that a list of names of people whom he suspects bombed his house has been submitted. He alleged that these people once threatened to kill him.
Though the MP did not mention the names to the Times, he alleged that there was a faction of people with whom he is not on good terms.
"Yes, I have submitted to the police a list of people that I suspect are behind the petrol bombing of my house," confirmed the MP.
Shongwe’s house and Mercedes Benz were petrol bombed last week Tuesday at Ntabinezimpisi.
"One question that has been troubling me is why do these people want to harm my family as well? My wife and children are not part of the misunderstandings and thus they don’t deserve to die on my behalf. The people who want me dead should attack me alone and leave my family out of this," said Shongwe.
He said the incident had forced him to spend most of his time indoors because he feels his life is in danger.
Shongwe was the only northern Hhohho MP who did not attend the function for elderly people organised by FNB at Ntfonjeni.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Assistant Superintendent Wendy Hleta said police investigations were still ongoing regarding the spate of bombings.
"We cannot comment on the matter of the MP because we treat every information with confidentially," said Hleta.
