LEOPARD’S ACID TEST AT MAMBA

MBABANE – After their crippling 1-1 draw against Malanti Chiefs, MTN League defending champions Royal Leopard are not relishing the prospects of facing the on-song Green Mamba.

The police outfit dropped their first points of the season against Malanti last weekend and the Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati’s charges could take full advantage to exploit the situation this afternoon. Vilakati’s Green Mamba looks to be in a mean mood. In their last outing, Green Mamba thrashed army side, Young Buffaloes 3-0 to send a very strong statement of intent. They are a team on a mission. Today’s game between the two is likely to be a highly tactical affair. Both sides, as per their tradition, are likely to apply a cautious approach.

Play is likely to be centred around the belly of the park where Leopard are parading Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo and Mxolisi ‘General’ Lukhele, while Green Mamba will rely heavily on the passing prowess of Muzi ‘Mzo’ Dlamini and probably Ntobeko Mthimkhulu.

It is in the attack, however, where both sides have match winners. The police side’s striking force will be spearheaded by Barry Steenkamp. Green Mamba will look up to Mbuso Gina for inspiration, their towering number nine, who has turned back the hands of time. Already in the Indian Summer of his career, Gina outruns younger defenders before scoring cracking goals.
