MBABANE – Green Mamba former captain and central defender Siyabonga ‘Msholozi’ Mdluli will not see any football action for at least three weeks after a hernia operation last Wednesday morning.

Mdluli underwent surgery at the Mbabane Government Hospital after team doctors recommended he takes the hernia operation which was becoming a threat to his health and soccer career.

“The operation went well but I cannot immediately be available for my team even though I’m able to go to our games only to watch. Doctors gave me three weeks off and even then it doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll return to action,” he said.

Msholozi said he was given three weeks to heal and then return to the hospital for a further check-up which is when he will know exactly when he can start training again. He then said as his team plays forces’ rivals Young Buffaloes tonight at Somhlolo National Stadium, he was only hoping for the best and will be there to give his support.

Meanwhile, Mdluli’s illness had gone to the extent that he was having difficulty breathing and had he not had the operation, his hernia would have caused more complications like scarcity in urinating among other health risks.

Worth mentioning is that Mdluli is not the only Green Mamba player out of action as even winger Phumlani Ngwenya is also out until the end of November as his leg is currently in a plaster after an injury during the Castle Premier Challenge in their semi-final against Young Buffaloes.
The club’s CEO Thami Phakathi confirmed the duo was out until they were further advised by medical experts on their fitness to return to action. “They’re both recuperating well but they won’t be rushed until we are advised otherwise by doctors,” he said.

He then invited their supporters to their fixture against forces’ rivals Young Buffaloes at Somhlolo National Stadium which is a rescheduled MTN League fixture. He added that they were going there for nothing less than a win.
