MANZINI – MTN National First Division League debutants Bad Boys FC have continued their unbeaten run in five games as, yesterday, they beat Mhlambanyatsi Rovers 4-2 at the Trade Fair Ground.
While the game could have simply gone either side, Bad Boys took full advantage of the Rovers erratic goalkeeper Mkhosana Mabuza who conceded three soft goals while a 72nd minute red card also meant ‘Isibaya Esikhulu’ finished the game one man short.
The Manzini-based side, who also played in the SwaziBank Cup early this year and had a sterling preseason against most of the elite league sides were on target as early as the 17th when through striker Jose Machado but the goalkeeper could not be blamed for this one.
Machado was back again to finish his brace in the 33rd with a weak shot that beat the goalkeeper who seemed to be in wonderland as the ball was struck. Machado’s second goal was the third for Bad Boys as they had gone 2-0 up three minutes after their first through Sikhumbuzo Ndwandwe and the goalkeeper should have done better here as well but let a weak free-kick beat him.
Rovers, who were playing some neat football with senior players Mxolisi Thole, Dan Shabangu and Machawe Thwala leading the way, responded in the 25th through striker Lungelo Hlatshwako whose close range effort beat the Bad Boys goalkeeper Samkeliso Dlamini.
Rovers kept pressing with some impressive football and were rewarded three minutes into the second half as Dan Shabangu blasted one in from the edge of the area after a nice build-up from the right flank.
However, just as they pushed for the equaliser, midfielder Mxolisi Bhembe was shown red after a second bookable offence by referee Lucky ‘Makalakalane’ Ndlangamandla, which proved costly as it allowed Bad Boys back into the game.
Bad Boys right winger Sikhumbuzo was able to finish his brace, also from the corner kick spot as he hit it straight into the net with the goalkeeper once again exposed as he failed to handle the ball instead spilling it into his own net in what proved to be the final nail in the coffin. There was no way back for Rovers who started conceding fouls and getting more bookings, a sign of admission to defeat and the final whistle confirmed their plight.
