MBABANE – As the Castle Premier Challenge Cup nears in two weeks’ time, Mbabane Swallows rivals Malanti Chiefs have added two South African midfielders to their squad.

The gold and black outfit’s coach, Texan Phiri, lamented the unavailability of some foreign players in his team when they lost their opening MTN Premier League game at Somhlolo National Stadium but said his team would be ready for Swallows with the players present.

“We have signed and already registered the two South African midfielders with the NFAS and are officially Malanti Chiefs’ players now who’ll be ready to face Swallows in the Castle Cup,” said team official Mandla Maduna.

He said their work permits were expected to be issued as of today otherwise all other necessities have been completed. The players are Brian Ngwenya, who used to play at BEE FC and one Klaas nicknamed ‘Shakes’ who appeared for Ugly FC.

Worth mentioning is that former Malanti’s South African coach Kenny Ndlazi once coached Ugly FC before moving to the country where he has also coached Manzini Wanderers and recently helped Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows.

When Maduna was asked on speculation that they were expecting two more South Africans who once played in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for AmaZulu and SuperSport United, he said the team’s Managing Director, Dumisani Gumede, was out to ensure he assembled another strong team this season after the departure of key players.

However, he said until everything was finalised he could not then start talking about it publicly instead preferred to discuss those players who already belong to Malanti.
