MBABANE – The senior national football team Sihlangu is set to play two international friendly games in a space of four days during this coming FIFA Week.

The FIFA Week falls on the weekend of September 6 and the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) is looking to have two games for the national team.
The NFAS has had fruitful talks with Namibia and Zimbabwe, both countries agreeing in principle to play against Swaziland.

Despite having declined to disclose any names pending worded confirmation from the countries, NFAS CEO Frederick Mngomezulu stated that the national team would possibly play two friendly games as they had managed to reach verbal agreements with two nations. “We are just going to wait until we finalise all communiqué between us and the two countries who have agreed to play against Sihlangu before we publicise the names.

I can just confirm that the national team is lined up to play two friendly games, on September 6 and the other on September 10. However, should things change, we will definitely have the national team playing one of the two games,” he said. Mngomezulu stressed that the squad would go into full-time camp on Sunday in preparation for the games.

Meanwhile, he further informed that they were also working frantically to secure a friendly game for the U-23 squad which is preparing to play an Olympic Games 2016 qualifying match with opponents yet to be known between Ghana, Sierra Leone and Guinea among others. He said the U-23 squad would, therefore, be also start training tomorrow.
