MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders have since dissolved their Management Committee (MC) as the team’s Managing Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane wants new faces.
In a meeting held on Monday between Simelane and the MC, the former informed the concerned individuals that it was high-time they stepped down.

“This should have happened a while ago but because we have been involved in the failed partnership talks we delayed in a lot of things. Clearly I have to appoint a new MC as the one I worked with has done its time and I’m proud of their work,” Simelane said as he confirmed the status quo.

He said this happened on Monday evening and everyone understood that their term was up hence they had to vacate office. He said it was through this MC that the Highlanders brand regained its respect while playing in the First Division last season.

“Together we were able to bring Highlanders back into the elite league but it’s now time to change. Obviously there are some members of the dissolved MC who have shown me great work ethic and when the time comes, may be retained,” he explained.
For now, Simelane said an Interim MC has been put in place to ensure that operations continued smoothly, especially because they were already behind schedule in as far as preseason training was concerned as new players must be signed.

Worth noting is that he retained three members of the dissolved MC in the temporary structure and they are General Manager Andrew Mamba, Team Manager Noah Nkambule and Assistant PRO Sifiso Magagula who has since been elevated into the PRO position and will handle all public affairs for the club.

Meanwhile, speculation is also rife that Simelane’s decision was also influenced by the lack of trust among officials in particular after the arrival of South African businessman Ally Kgomongwe who intended to be his co-director.
However, Simelane downplayed these saying as much as there was a big storm regarding Kgomongwe; the MC was mainly dissolved because their one-season term was already over. In fact, he said their term expired after the last game of the season but all had to wind up a few things before he could officially dissolve them.

He then also appointed a task team that will focus on the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup voting process and try to ensure they made the top six to play on either July 28 or August 3, 2014. Below is the dissolved MC, the interim and also the task team to foresee the voting process and ensure the club makes it into the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup tournament. The latter will work closely with the club’s National Supporters Committee (NSC).
