MANZINI – Second-placed Romeo Da Silva suffered a major blow over the weekend when he went down to leader Flag Nxumalo in the George Hotel Pool Singles League.

This was the biggest match in the tournament between two top players both of whom have won many titles and represented the country internationally.

What was even more interesting about the clash was their league log standing as Nxumalo is at the summit and Romeo on second.
It was not an easy match for both players who have so much homage for the other on the pool table.
The scoreline at the end of the match reflected just what a game it was as it finished 6-5 in favour of Nxumalo who plies his trade at Ludzeludze Pool Club.

Romeo, on the other hand, plays for the star-studded Jay Zee Pool Club who are already Swazi Telecom Pool League champions and also through to the Swazi Telecom Pool Teams Knockout tournament.

The loss blew Romeo’s chances to close in on Nxumalo who further went on to beat veteran player Nathi Hleta 6-4 in yet another interesting tie.
However, at the time of compiling this report, the updated log had not been availed.

Also worth mentioning is that top player Zweli ‘Siziba’ Dlamini also went down 6-4 to his Jay Zee teammate and Swazi Telecom Singles Knockout champion David Masuku while Sikhatsi Dlamini also won his two games with Vusi Masilela also managing a win after a rough spell that relegated him to the basement of the table.
