(At Prince of Wales)

MBABANE – Move over ‘Swazi Bolt’, there is a new sensation in town! Nkwalini Primary School Standard VI pupil, Fan Fan Dlamini was the talk of the afternoon yesterday soon after the Inter Primary Schools’ Athletics competition staged at Prince of Wales Ground.

The boy ran as if he was on steroids, showing the rest of the competitors a clean pair of heels in both the 100 and 400 metre races.
At 17 years old, his future in the sport is bright, so bright he left teachers, fellow pupils and fans alike bemused, especially in the 100 metres.

Like a bullet fired from a revolver, he was invincible to his competitors. He disappeared and faded before the other runners’ eyes like morning dew.
Although, he appeared to have been the slowest off the blocks during the sprint, it was not long before he had turned the race into a one horse canter.

At the 50 metres’ mark, Dlamini was already the obvious winner.
Likewise in the 400 metres’ race, he started slowly but soon emerged as a huge favourite on reaching the 200 mark, he accelerated almost unbelievably  to the finishing line.

Interviewed after his stunning performance, the soft spoken athlete said he always put in a lot of hard work at training.
“I also find time to train at home as well. It helps me a lot because I am in good shape,” he said.
