‘BIRDS’ AIM TO RECLAIM TOP SPOT

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

FIXTURE: Umbelebele vs Swallows
VENUE: Somhlolo National Stadium
TIME: 4pm

This will be a six-pointer in different ways, as Mbabane Swallows will be seeking to reclaim their top spot with Umbelebele looking to move out of the danger zone.

The capital city giants have 29 points, one behind leaders Royal Leopard who face Manzini Sea Birds tomorrow. And Coach Christopher ‘Gazza’ Tembo knows quite well how much the club desire all three points this afternoon if they were the defend the league title. For Umbelebele, victory would not only give them the precious three points, but the psychological edge they need to fight relegation.

In getting something out of the tie, Inkiliva will have to first neutralise on form Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, Mike Mohammed and Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko who are literally driving Swallows to their known devastating form. South African born defender Phumlani Ngwazi, assisted by the experienced Thula Dlamini, will be key at back for the Skomboys.

The leadership qualities of the combative skipper Celani Dlamini will be what young coach Velekhaya Mthethwa requires to resist the ‘Birds’ onslaught. On the opposite end of the field, dazzling youngster Siyabonga Dlamini and Bongumenzi ‘Sdi’ Maseko will attempt to get one past Jim Knowledge.
