MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers should be grateful to their passionate supporters, who have ensured South African coach Kenny Ndlazi stays on as the team’s head coach.

Ndlazi, who leaves the country this afternoon to attend to a close relative who goes under the knife at a South African hospital today, will only be back with the ‘Weslians’ after a week or so depending on how he finds the situation back home in South Africa.
He has, however, assured that he will return to see through his contract with the maroon and white giants, thanks to the team’s fervent and avid supporters. He said it was because of the supporters that he was still at the maroon and white ensemble.

Wanderers are fresh from a morale draining and embarrassing defeat at the hands of a regional side in Amalanda, who are campaigning in the Shiselweni Super League.
“I actually do not have the words to express my appreciation and gratefulness to the Manzini Wanderers supporters, who have all stood by me through very trying times. I am not ashamed to say that I am still with the team because of their love and support.

“To be honest, I have been through very challenging times and I felt that leaving for home was the best option. The supporters have, however, always been there for me and I owe them so much. That is why it would pain me to leave the club without helping it to win any silverware.
“I owe the Wanderers supporters so much,” said the well travelled mentor.

Asked to specify the things, the team’s supporters do for him Ndlazi, said it would take the whole day to do that. He likened Wanderers supporters to their Moroka Swallows counterparts in South Africa.

Moroka Swallows campaign in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
“The last time I felt so much love and appreciation in a team was during my coaching days at Moroka Swallows. Their supporters are so much like that of Wanderers with their caring nature.

“Can you imagine that as we speak I am at a car wash and one lady supporter has just offered to pay on my behalf? She has even given me money on top of her gesture. These are some of the small issues I am referring to when I say, I am still at Wanderers because of their supporters,” he said.

On return, Ndlazi said he will immediately shift focus to the MTN League campaign after the disappointment of bowing out in the preliminaries of the SwaziBank Cup. Last season, the veteran strategist lost in the final of the tournament when his Malanti Chiefs side finished as runners up to Mbabane Swallows.
