The Swaziland national senior men’s team has been hoisting the country’s flag very high in the Mpumalanga Cricket Union (MCU) 2013/4 league, South Africa.

Incredible results have been the norm on what the team brings every Sunday from the league games. The squad has won all the fixtures, but two (2) and those were ruled “NO RESULT” due to rain.
Harris Khan has led the team with his brilliant batting form as he has scored two centuries already in six batting innings.

HARRIS THE
CENTURION

Fluent in siSwati, Harris was named the Swazi captain in the resumption of the league and in his first match he scored 117 runs against Valencia, a match Swaziland won convincingly by 125 runs. Harris has been notably assisted by Tarun Sandeep in piling the runs as the latter averages just above 40 runs in the tournament.
Swaziland nudged to the top gear since match day one and has maintained the form.

TWO LEGGED
ROUND ROBIN

The league comprises seven (7) teams six (6) of them from the Mpumalanga province with Swaziland completing the seven. Utilising the round-robin format, each team meets the other in two legs in a home and an away fixture.
This, however, is not the case for the national side which always travels to Nelspruit every Sunday to honour its fixtures.
The league is the second division of the province’s elite as Swaziland is in a quest to gain promotion to the elite league next season. October 6, 2013 marked the resumption of the league and the last match will be played in February 9, 2014.

TABLE TOPPERS

Currently Swaziland has played 10 matches, recorded 8 wins and 2 were no result matches. This puts the team at the top of the table with 36 points and is poised to gain promotion if they win their last but one match on Sunday the 26th of January.
Competing in South Africa is helping the team play more matches as a team, impelling the players to have more training sessions and it builds the chemistry amongst the players. All along the country has had the strongest team in international matches in its division but with no chemistry and teamwork, the team has failed to bring results.
The MCU league alleviates the shortfall, and with at least two major international tournaments Swaziland has to play this year they have already covered all the bases.
