PLS REJECTS ‘SPORT’S DEMANDS

MBABANE – After the 14 days ran out yesterday, the PLS responded to former CEO Zwelonke ‘Sport’ Dlamini’s appeal to retain his Development Officer post.

However, the PLS could not entertain the appeal as they also wrote to the Mandla Mkhwanazi Attorneys clarifying their stance in the matter. Dlamini’s lawyers had served the PLS with a letter of demand challenging the termination of Dlamini’s latest job as Development Officer after they had publicly confirmed him.

One of the grounds was that Dlamini never at any point rejected the post but only raised concerns which his employers had to address as opposed to terminating his contract. “We’ve got the response from the PLS but right now it doesn’t give us much,” confirmed Mkhwanazi when reached yesterday.

He would not reveal the exact content of the response but said in as far as what they had asked from the PLS, there was no progress.
“They have responded but nothing has been agreed on. Because we just got their response, we’ll be in communication with them soon,” he said.
He said they would be working on the issue with the PLS otherwise for now nothing much could be said save to say they received the organisa-tion’s response. Meanwhile, PLS COO John Mazibuko confirmed the latest as their deadline to respond was yesterday. “It is true we have responded to the issue of Sport. The lawyers have our response as we speak,” Mazibuko said. Asked what their response was to this issue, he would not reveal much but chose the diplomatic approach to the matter.

“Our aim is to have this issue ha-ndled by us and not the media. I am only saying we have responded but can’t tell of the contents of our response,” he said. However, when pressed on the matter he said the PLS responded in a way that gave clarity to the lawyers on how Dlamini left the organisation. “It was all based on what really happened when he left the PLS,” he added when further pressed.

He said since they had responded, they would only wait to hear if there was any more response from Dlamini’s lawyers otherwise they did what they had to. Dlamini was former CEO at PLS but was replaced by Nqobile Magagula at the start of the season while he took over as Development Officer. However, he was not satisfied with the salary offer and the fact that he would be reporting to the office administrator Ncamsile Mkhonta but that turned out to be his way out of the PLS.
