MBABANE – As the PLS/ Swazi Telecom Trade Fair cup takes centre stage, there has been a mad rush among the teams involved in the preliminaries to register their new players.

The tournament kicked off with a double header pitting the quartet of Manzini Sundowns, RSSC, Young Buffaloes and Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Centre last night. The teams including Manzini Wanderers who face Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos today were very busy yesterday as they tried to register their new signees.

Sundowns registered their prized asset Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze who joined the side from neighbours Wanderers together with returnees in striker Nicholas ‘Bobby’ Carrington and Kevin Charles, among others. The maroon and white outfit, on the other hand, officiated the acquisition of striker Dumsani Kunene from Sundowns as well as the duo of defenders Ricky Sibiya and Elias Makako from Moneni Pirates. Sea Birds were not to be outdone, registering young striker Banele ‘Bunny’ Mdluli who was with Red Lions.

RSSC, on the other hand, were unlucky as they could not register shot-stopper Satali Mulife. The latter’s work permit has expired.
Meanwhile the panic caused by the much publicised club licensing seems to becoming a thing of the past as almost all the eight teams involved in the opening games were able to register. Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos were expected to complete registering this morning. Other teams in preliminary games are Midas City, Young Buffaloes and Royal Leopard.
