Security Forces’ threat

There can be no doubting the fact that indeed power has shifted in the elite league to the security forces’ sides.

The three forces teams, namely, police ensemble Royal Leopard, Correctional Services outfit Green Mamba and army side Young Buffaloes could all be locked in a gruelling neck to neck race in this season’s competition.
From what has been seen so far, the three could be the teams to watch.

Predicted top four

1. Mbabane Swallows – The league’s defending champions will be looking at making it thrice on the trot and look to have assembled the squad to do just that. The Mbabane giants have also gone out of their way to try and beef up their squad with the arrival of attacking midfielder Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko. Even though the team’s defence still looks suspect, The team acted shrewdly in replacing former goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura swiftly by bringing in Jim Knowledge, who however is yet to be tested.

2. Royal Leopard – They could be back after lifting the season’s opener. The last time Leopard won the Charity Cup, they went on to win the league. They can never be ruled out in any competition and look to have done well in trying to bolster their squad with players like Leonardo Bongnso, who has joined from Manzini Sundowns alongside the likes of Sizwe Khumalo and Buhle Msibi, who joined from Midas City

3. Young Buffaloes – Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati’s charges can aptly be named the tournament’s dark horses. Buffaloes look awesome, on paper that is. In his disposal, Vilakati has what looks to be the strongest Buffaloes team in years. They could mount a serious challenge for honours this season. It was also a wise move by the army side to retain Vilakati for another season despite finishing empty handed the last time. This could give him and his boys the edge this time, as they have forged an understanding.

4. Green Mamba –Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini appears to have created a monster. Green Mamba may have failed to impress in the season’s opener, the Charity Cup, but they appear to be monstrous. They are mean-looking – with that there is no doubt. They also seem to have perfected their combination and will justifiably believe that they can mount a strong bid for only their second MTN League crown.
