MBABANE – Swazi-land National Sports Council (SNSC) Acting Chief Exe-cutive Officer Darius Dlomo has challe-nged the junior darts team to bring back eight medals in Malawi.

The team made up of Under-15s girls and boys as well as Under-18s females will compete in the two-day Zone VI Youth Championships which start on Wednesday.
After collecting seven medals in their last participation in Zambia in 2009, Dlomo said he expected the team to do better this year. He made the remarks during the side’s farewell function at his offices in Mbabane yesterday.

“We expect the youngsters to compete at their level best and derive joy out of the competition. I expect the team to improve from the previous records,” he said. In his address, he also commended the players for joining the sport, which he felt improved concentration levels.

“Darts also helps in decision making, so it’s a good move to play the sport. We hope the players will be good ambassadors of the country and avoid illicit practices,” he said. The darts outfit led by President Hamilton ‘Waga Waga’ Nxumalo will leave by road between Sunday and Monday for the championships.

The Under-18 boys will remain behind as there was no space in the SNSC sprinter bus to accommodate them. The trip was financed by the country’s sports mother body to a tune of E48 000. Also forming part of the 17-member delegation are Swaziland National Darts Association (SNDA) Secretary Phumlani ‘Kofi’ Ndwandwe and Development Coach Andile Malambe, among  others.
