MBABANE – Malanti Chiefs have netted E90 000 in the transfer of top striker Nhlanhla ‘Mshengu’ Kunene to Young Buffaloes.

The Sihlangu striker made his debut for the army side on Sunday during the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup semi-final clash against Mbabane Swallows. This was after the player was registered with the team on Saturday a day before the finals.

According to a source, Malanti Chiefs reduced the price from E200 000, which was their asking price last season. The army side failed to secure the services of the player last season and the negotiations were fruitful this time around.
It was gathered that Malanti have requested that playmaker Sabelo Hlatjwako be part of the transfer deal to rejoin his former team. However, the negotiations on that regard are still ongoing between both parties.

“The player was cleared to Buffaloes after they had paid the E90 000 transfer fee which was the last negotiation price,” a source said.
Malanti Secretary Celumusa Mdluli confirmed that the player was cleared to Buffaloes.

“The transfer deal of the player was directly handled by the director (Dumisani Gumede) so I don’t have much details about it,” he said.
Buffaloes PRO Sandile Gwebu also confirmed that the player now belonged to the army side without mentioning any figures. “We are very grateful to Malanti for the successful talks we had with them on the transfer of the player. We are happy to have ‘Mshengu’ in the team as he is one player who we have been long interested in,” Gwebu said.
