MBABANE – Estranged Manzini Wanderers midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze’s, father Clement has ordered the hub giants’ manage-ment not to dare clear his son to capital city giants, Mbabane Swallows.

The player was put on transfer by the team about two weeks ago alongside his elder brother Xolani ‘Papi’ allegedly for indiscipline. However, ‘Papi’s name has since been withdrawn from the transfer list following successful talks between the player, Wanderers and his father on Thursday after the team’s training session.

The players’ father is reported to have attacked Wanderers Management Committee (MC) Chairman Sidney Nxumalo on reports linking his son ‘Pupu’ with a move back to his former team, Swallows.
Sikhondze senior argued that the team did not have the right to transfer the player without his (father) consent because he (Pupu) was still underage.

“If Wanderers no longer need the services of the player they should just tell me because they don’t have the right to clear him without my consent. ‘Pupu’ is still underage so I am the one who negotiates terms on his behalf. I can say that the player is not going anywhere,” he said.
The player’s father confessed to be a staunch Wanderers supporter but said that did not mean he was going to force the team to recall the player.
“I have met with the team’s officials on the player’s issues and both parties are willing to solve the matter. It is very unfortunate that during the meeting with the team ‘Pupu’ was not present as he was at school,” he said.

The father insisted that if his son finally fails to rejoin Wanderers, he is the one to decide on his future and not the hub giants.

Wanderers Chairman Sidney Nxumalo confirmed the meeting but referred this publication to the Managing Director Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila. Mabila said the player’s  tra-nsfer was nothing personal, arguing that if the matter has been sorted the player would be welcome back in the team.

“What I can confirm is that ‘Pupu’ is staying put for now following our meeting with his father. The team does not have any grudges against the player but it was a decision taken in the best interest of the team. We are more than ready to welcome him back, especially if he is remorseful,” Mabila said.
The player was also linked with a move to Manzini Sundowns who have enquired about his services.

I never refused to sign  - ‘Pupu’

MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers midfielder Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze has denied allegations that he refused to sign the D- form with the hub giants.

The former Sihlangu player refused to comment about his future as he said he was still to meet with his parents over it. However, the player wanted to clarify his sacking by the hub giants’ management.
Sikhondze said he was very surprised to read from the media that he was fired for indiscipline.

“All what was said about me is very untrue. I have never refused to sign, no one came with the D-forms to me. I was injured at training ahead of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup and I was not even included in the team’s top 18. So, I decided to go home early and no one even talked to me on that day only to read it in the media the following day,” he said.

He said it was very unfortunate that the team management did not reveal the truth in the report.
