MBABANE – Hub giants Manzini Wanderers have been charged with one count which is the contravening of Article 11.3 of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Rules and Regulations.

The Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) formally charged Wanderers yesterday for the violence scenes that occurred immediately after their replay match with Royal Leopard which they lost 1-0. The replay was played last Thursday under floodlights at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The charge sheet has already reached Wanderers who have to appear before the NFAS Disciplinary Committee (DC) tomorrow at 6pm. The DC will be held at Sigwaca House Conference Room.

The count in which the maroon and white outfit have been slapped with states that the club and its supporters engaged in unsporting unbehaviour and threw stones at police officers thereby contravening the said Article.
The contravened Article emanates from Article 11.2 which covers throwing stones or missiles of any kind in the pitch. Nonetheless, Article 11.3 states that the team faces a fine of not less than E10 000 if found guilty.

In addition to the fine, the tournament’s DC may pass summary judgement for the convicted club to compensate any injured party. PLS’ CEO Nqobile Magagula confirmed the charge and said they case would be heard tomorrow.

“Wanderers already got the charge and we expect them to face the DC on Thursday (tomorrow),” she said.
Meanwhile, Wanderers’ PRO Lington Gule could not be reached as his mobile phone was unavailable for the better part of the afternoon.
The last attempt was made at 6.15pm.
