We are currently compiling the final list of full contact sports to be promoted by this column. These are the styles we found in the country:

Boxing

I don’t doubt the strength of this organisation. They are very intact and already in the move. They have what it takes to make good of good opportunities. They have the muscle, power and will to promote a number of brands in the country.
Boxing is very active in the country and currently working on increasing the number of teams and number of active boxers.

Taekwondo

This is another organisation that has a solid foundation in the country. It has definitely stood the test of time. It is well orchestrated and can definitely make the country proud. It has indeed brought a number of medals from international tournaments.
Taekwondo is an Olympic sport that has been practiced for a number of decades in the country. It is a very interesting sport that has fared so well in continental tournaments.

Judo

Master Jigoro Kano is the founder of Judo. The sport became an Olympic sport in 1964. It involves no weapon or equipment.  Judo is currently taking the country by storm. It has successfully penetrated a number of schools in the country, especially at primary level.
It is a tremendous and dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponents onto their backs.
On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponents down to the ground, control them, and apply various chokeholds or joint locks until submission.

Kyokushin

Founded and popularised by the South Korean, Sosai (President) Masutatsu Oyama. In Swaziland we have three types of Kyokushins under three different and competent organisations.
Kyokushin is currently not an Olympics sport because it is no ordinary game. It is a bit lethal and deadly and it’s more of a knockdown sport than a point system sport. It normally uses no protection, but it’s also very interesting to watch or play. These three organisations are all very active and have very tight schedules year round.

b. Shin KyokushinKai Kan Association of Swaziland, led by Sensei Edward Manana.
c.Oyama KyokushinKai Kan    Association of Swaziland, led by Sensei Mfanafuthi Vilakati

Ninjitsu

After last week’s article I got some few calls from people claiming that Ninjitsu exist in Swaziland. At the moment I’m not sure whether it really does, but I don’t want to rule out the possibility of the existence of this sophisticated and fantastic sport. Sponsors will only sponsor legitimate sports. So, if it exists, I expect it to be known by either the Sports Council or other professional bodies in the country.
Japan Karate Association (JKA)
JKA also known as Kyokai in Japan is another old sport in Swaziland. It does have a good following and a good number of artists in the country. It also participates in local and international tournaments, including Zone VI and All Africa Games. It participates both as a semi and also as a full contact sport. It is currently invading schools, to build a strong base for development.
