MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers have suffered a change of heart on their sacked player Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze, as they now want him back.

The maroon and white outfit  is willing to forgive the midfielder two weeks after he was kicked out with his brother Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze who is on his way back to Mbabane Swallows.

Sources close to the matter said a Wanderers top official had already started negotiating with the player over a possible recall to the team. Both players were shown the exit door for ill-discipline. The former Ubombo Flyers players even missed the club’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup semi-finals play-offs against Royal Leopard.

“The player is likely to bounce back to the team but there are certain terms and conditions he will agree on with the club. If he agrees on the terms, he will be wearing the maroon and white colours during the season,” he said.
Manzini Wanderers will have to win the player from Sivutsa Stars where he is expected to sign a contract before the end of the week. Wanderers Management Committee (MC) Chairman Sydney Nxumalo said they were willing to bring back both players but said they will have to change their behaviour. He said there was no player bigger than the team.

“It is possible that both players may bounce back to the team but they will have to start behaving like the rest of the other players. There is no player who is bigger than Manzini Wanderers Football Club. We are expecting all players to behave well on and off the field as they are the club faces,” he said.

The player’s representative Zakhele Dlamini of TZD Sports Management Company could only say that they will be meeting Wanderers over Papi’s issue this week.
He was, however, not aware of the Sivutsa deal.

“We are meeting Wanderers over the player this week,” he said.
Efforts to get comment from the player proved futile as his cellphone rang unanswered despite numerous attempts yesterday. The last call was made at 6.40pm.
Meanwhile, Pupu has already shown interest in joining his former team, Mbabane Swallows.  He appeared for the team on Saturday during their series of friendly games at Nsukuwansuku Stadium.

Sivutsa to table offer on player

MBABANE – South Africa’s National First Division Sivutsa Stars have been impressed by sacked Manzini Wanderers midfielder Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze.

Sivutsa Stars’ Bafana Siboza confirmed that the player may sign a contract with the team before the end of the week. He said the technical bench had been impressed by the player’s performance in the two weeks he had been with them.

“He is not the only player we are preparing to sign. He is a good player and his presence in the team may help us. We are still to draft the contract and if all goes well he will sign before the end of the week,” he said.

Sikhondze impressed Sivutsa Stars during the Mbombela Cup played at KaNyamazane Stadium. The team showed interest in him as they wanted to sign him outright.
Sivutsa Stars is a former team to Wanderers goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza.
