MBABANE – His Majesty’s Correctional Services has continued to sponsor the National Netball League by pumping in E70 000.

The funding which remains the highest in the history of the sport in the country started last year. The teams got E60 000 last season. Correctional Commissioner Isaiah Mzuthini Ntshangase confirmed the continued partnership. He said his department decided to stay on board to keep the players away from illicit practices as well as to encourage physical activity.

“We’re made to understand that no pregnancies were recorded last year. We also associate ourselves with sports, so it has been easy to come on board. Besides, we’ve a competitive team in the league,” he said.
National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) President Norma Sibandze said her office was very grateful for the kind gesture.

“We’re very happy about the latest developments. The money will be split among the elite, B Division, and junior teams,” she said.
Sibandze urged the netball sides to report to the office situated at the Swaziland National Sports Council office in Mbabane to register.
“We’re hopeful the upcoming season will be bigger and better. We’re planning to stop centralising the games by allowing the teams to play home and away,” she said.

The teams are set to storm the courts for the start of the league next month.
