MBABANE – Manzini Sundowns’ prime target Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko has been handed the number 10 shirt.

He was spotting the number 10 shirt made famous in football by the likes of the legendary Pele of Brazil and nearer home South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, the celebrated Jomo Sono during the team’s preparatory matches against the likes of  Mbabane Swallows and hosts RSSC at the Mhlume Stadium on Saturday.

Last season, the number 10 shirt at Sundowns was worn by Camero-onian Leonardo Bongnso, who has since joined police ensemble Royal Leopard.
Sundowns PRO, Muzi Matsenjwa said the player was more than happy to be handed the number 10 shirt and warned that they could be the team to beat in the new season.

“We are so thrilled that he has also vowed to live up to expectations of wearing the number 10 jersey on his back. He wants to keep it and that can only mean good news for us as a club. His performance on the day was above average, which is exactly what we are looking for.

“I can safely say that Wonder has been the missing link in the team. We have always been looking for a creative midfielder to play just ahead of Regan and we have found the perfect one in Wonder,” he said.

He assured their supporters that they will see the Wonder of old, who mesmerised defenders after joining the ‘Kappa Kappa’ ensemble from the relegated Gege Happy Stars.
Nhleko could not be reached for a comment, as his mobile phone constantly rang unanswered.
Negotiations between Sundowns and Malanti are expected to commence soon.
